Service Projects

Alpha Phi Omega is a National Service Fraternity. We pride ourselves in the service we do for the Chapter, Community, Campus, and Nation.

The Chapter at Montclair State University, Nu Psi, has a requirement of 25 service hours per semester, and encourages Brothers to go above and beyond their requirement by taking part in many planned activities, plus the members' own activities. Our programs include fundraisers such as comic book sales, date auctions, and lollipop making/selling; Campus work, such as cosponsoring events and campus clean ups, running leadership development activites for members, and interactive work such as beach sweeps, Relay for Life, and volunteering at the Food Bank of NJ.

Here are just a few of the service projects we have done over the years!

Relay For Life
Relay For Life

Members of our chapter participate in Relay For Life every year. Relay is sponsored by the American Cancer Society as a way to raise money for cancer research. To raise funds, our chapter conducts bake sales, works hours at the bookstore bag drop, and sometimes even dyes their hair for donations!

The Pulsera Project

The Pulsera Project is dedicated to helping orphaned children in Nicaragua. The children make bracelets, or "pulseras" through the program. The bracelets are then sold here at MSU, and 100% of the proceeds go back to the children who made them.

Food Bank of New Jersey

Nu Psi has partnered with the Food Bank of New Jersey on multiple occasions. The Food Bank provides canned goods and other non-perishables to be distributed to various shelters, soup kitchens, and charities throughout the state.

Read Across America

Nu Psi collaborates with schools for Read Across America, volunteering to read books to young children and promote literacy. We have also made bookmarks and craft projects that encourage reading to share with the students.
